Pharmacological Action: Black cohosh provides plant constituents that resemble the action of estrogen without the side effects of conventional estrogen therapy. It suppresses the surge of luteinizing hormone in response to low estrogen levels, improves menopausal symptoms, vaginal dryness and depression.
Indications: Menopausal symptoms.
Do not use in pre-menopausal women.
Warnings: Do not exceed recommended dose limits. Always consult your health professional if you are ill.
Interactions: There is a concern that black cohosh may be linked to cases of liver failure and autoimmune hepatitis.
Pregnancy and Lactation: Likely to be unsafe when used in pregnant women who are not at term. May possibly adversely affect a nursing child. Avoid using during pregnancy or lactation.
Directions of Use: Two to three capsules daily with meals.
