PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION D-mannose is a 6-carbon sugar which occurS naturally in the body in small quantities. Preliminary research suggests that D-mannose might interfere with the adhesion of bacteria to the urinary tract, thereby protecting against some UTI’s. In vitro tests indicate that d-mannose can inhibit binding of around 50% of E. choli strains to epithelial cells.

CONTRA INDICATIONS Theoretically, d-mannose might worsen glucose control in patients with diabetes.
WARNINGS Use only under the supervision of a health professional if you suffer from diabetes.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION Insufficient reliable evidence exists, therefore avoid using during pregnancy and lactation.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS OF USE Take one slightly heaped teaspoon full (approx 1g) in half a glass of water three times daily for the treatment of urinary tract infections.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS In rare cases, d-mannose can cause loose stools and abdominal bloating.
KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT Excessive amounts may be toxic to the kidneys.
