Exctracts of saw palmetto, nettle root, chrysin and lycopene which may assist in maintaining normal prostate function.
Prevents growth of prostate cells by different mechanisms:
Saw palmetto extract suppresses conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone New Eng J Med 2006,364:557). Nettle root extract suppresses binding of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) to oestrogen which promotes cellular growth in the prostate (see above ref.). Chrysin suppresses conversion of testosterone into estrogen. Lycopene is known to specifically concentrate in the prostate gland and to suppress the conversion of normal prostate cells into cancer cells (J Ntl Cancer Inst 1995 87:1767).
May assist in maintaining normal prostate function.
Do not exceed dose limits. Always consult your health professional if you are seriously ill.
Saw palmetto may increase the risk of bleeding when used together with anticoagulant /antiplatelet drugs (J Int Med 2001, 250:167). It also has anti-estrogenic effects (Eur Urol 1992, 21:309) and may therefore also interact with contraceptive drugs and with hormone therapy. Because of its antiplatelet activity, it may cause excessive bleeding after surgery. No Interactions have been described for nettle root extract, chrysin and lycopene at normal dosage levels.
